Booking the Bands

Any Spies act you wish to book please email our booking agent Amy Wang via info@invisiblespies.com with the details and she’ll sort it.

Comp that!

The house band Toah Dynamic are back with new recordings and one that features on the up coming Spies compilation. ‘Channel your Love’ takes the rapid dogs back to their oi rave roots. We look forward to the boys getting back in the st, st, studio.

Earl Shilton phoned during The world’s most photographed: Adolf Hitler (No glamour shots, most surprised) but Earl had some great news about the forthcoming follow up to “Two rooms…” and that it’s not done yet but bloody hell it will be soon. I told him me and Amy Wang had paid homage to him whilst driving through the village of Earl Shilton in Leicestershire. I think he was blushing. Don’t ever let him know I told you other wise he’ll spark me out.

Chips for the Poor is setting up gigs throughout the UK and maybe even Europe so keep your ears to the ground and listen out for the club foot dragging itself your way (why else do you think he had his publicity shots in the bath covered in bubbles)

Make Poverty History for Chips For The Poor

He is mad skint after buying a new bed cos the mattress got ripped up Freddy Krueger style in 1,2 and 3.
So get your boggle on down your local record shop or on-line and purchase LSD Who said That?
Lets get that cunt on CD:UK. Thanks to all that came and bought the record the other week at The Earl.
Fuckin ace gig and cheers to The Long Blondes too for the support.

LSD THEY Said That?

“Brittle punk shakedown with a bargain bin production that makes the Mummies sound appear almost Spector” - www.losingtoday.com

“For aural sadists only” – Spill Magazine

"Really funny and powerful, like Brain Of Borbius"... www.manamana.hu

"Disturbing future psych-punk classic, with drum machines at the helm, grinding synthesizers and nonsense lyricism from the twisted poetic forward-thinking genius. Think someone force feeding your record collection into a blender and setting fire to the mangled product." – Angry Ape

The vibe is lo-fi electronic punk that nods to Suicide, The Fall and The Talking Heads but carries a humour more present in modern new wavers such as simian mobile disco. This is a seven inch that will turn a few heads. – Rough Trade Records

Chips for the Poor is the dark psychedelic underbelly of Sheffield. Whilst media types jerk themselves over Artic Monkeys, it is a shame that they will be overlooking the pure Fall mania that is Chips For the Poor. One listen to the 'LSD Who Said That'? will make you realise that Sheffield contains one of the best psychedelic Ken Loach poets known to man – Poptones

Genius 7” – Rob Da Bank, BBC Radio One

"If you enjoy musical safety, then avoid Chips for the Poor like the plague. Like taking an S&M aural beating. It’s hard not to get off to it. It makes you feel dirty!" – The National Student

"This garbled, primitive electro-dirge is something Mute Records could have chucked out circa 1982, and consists of a misguided soul castigating hallucinogenic drugs and his sorry lot over what sounds like a malfunctioning railway station tannoy system." – The Guardian Guide

"This is the sound of running headfirst into a brick wall or doing forward rolls off motorway bridges wearing nothing but a crash helmet and angel wings. Brain melting, off-kilter, punk-rock excitement that's the perfect summer anthem for those who aspire to droog status." – Soul Generation

I have had a listen - excellent lyrics! - Mum X

Borderline uncategorisable / quite bonkers scratchy / distorted lo-fi punk, the sort of thing Cassette boy likes to get up to or that the KLF got sued for. Not easy to pigeonhole but certainly entertaining. – www.smallfish.co.uk

STOP something is wrong. It’s Chips for the Poor moved by macabre visions spitting boredom and nihilism like the stooges in 1969. Whiney rhythmic, which leads you to suicide with brainless enraging singing, like The Fall and The Dead Kennedy’s. He has reduced language to stupidity by hammering in a single sentence til it makes no sense and makes and you feel like breaking the radio. More dada than LSD. - www.sefronia.com

Brilliant…as is rest of it, actually – Sound Track For The Weekend

Continually interspersing like a neurotic caged bird to brilliant effect & has much more northern spunk than the try-to-hard likes of Selfish Cunt et al. – Norman Records

Very insane, and also completely rubbish – www.thecatflap.co.uk

Good Morning Mr Chips for the Poor

We received an email from an English teacher working over in Nairobi who has downloaded the LSD Who said that? video from the site and is using it as an educational tool for Kenyan street children. Now that’s what we’d go to skkkool for.

Earl Shilton will be packing up his nap sack to head over the hills and back into the studio with Badly Drawn Boy for the next studio LP.

p.s Earl’s getting his hair cut too, so if you spot some dude with Michael Jordon shaved in the back off his bonce, throw him the horns.

"'Reality Raps' is a bona fide classic." - DJ Magazine 4/5 Sureplayer, April 04

"This is a good acknowledgement that British hip hop is finally British" - Sandman
